Each professional brings a unique background in real estate development & management, finance & investments, construction management, engineering, and public policy.

Our goal is to build a community-focused, development company of diverse staff and representatives of the communities in which our projects are located in.

Kateesha S. Atterberry – Founder & Managing Director

Kateesha is the Founder & Managing Director. She oversees all real estate development activities including land acquisition, feasibility, financial strategy, and design & construction management.  Kateesha brings 19+ years of unique real estate development, management, and public policy experience.  

Most notably, through her position as Senior Commercial Property Manager at the Pike Place Market Preservation & Development Authority (PDA), a quasi-government agency chartered by the City of Seattle to own, manage, and develop nine acres and 11 mixed-use public-owned assets in Seattle’s most beloved historic district.  

Kateesha also served as a Project Manager in the 2008 Pike Place Market $68.2 million Capital Redevelopment project; and, provided early conceptional planning and design to the Pike Place Market Waterfront project.  

She is a third generation Seattleite and Garfield high school graduate. Kateesha holds a bachelor’s degree in International Business from the University of Washington, is an upcoming International Law student at Seattle University, and is Certified in Commercial Real Estate Development (University of Washington College of Built Environments), Construction Management (Turner School of Construction), and Sales & Marketing (Bellevue College).

Ignatius deChabert - Senior Development Manager

Ignatius’ formal training is in Civil Engineering. With 15 years of progressively responsible site development experience planning and designing Mixed-Use, Multifamily, Affordable Housing, Retail, Office, Community Center, Civic, Tribal, and Military projects, he has been a part of over 100 projects in getting through feasibility, design, permitting and/or construction. 

His previous 9 years of experience in architecture, development, permitting, and public works gives him a unique ability to see the big picture, and collaborate with property owners, design teams, regulatory staff, and contractors on complex issues in order to achieve ambitious project goals.

As a creative, comprehensive, proactive thinker, Ignatius is able to synthesis varying conflicting interests, get at the root of challenges, and identify best practices and solutions.  He is organized, persistent in his pursuit of excellence and results, and a great communicator (both written and oral).  His strengths include Project Management, Scheduling, Cost Estimating, Site Evaluation, Permitting, Team Building, Contract negotiations, and Business Development.

Darnell Ford 2.JPG

Darnell Ford – Development Manager

Darnell joined Urban Black in 2018 to manage our development projects. He brings key skills in construction management, permitting & entitlements, and market analysis & appraisal. His strong background as a former Project Engineer at Sellen Construction affords Darnell the ability to expertly manage the permitting and construction phase of our projects.

Darnell is also the driving force in ensuring our projects procure DBE/WMBE subcontractors and businesses. He is intentional about generational knowledge, wealth, and opportunity - making sure that not only our contracts are accessible, but also, construction training and education is extended to under-served communities.

Darnell holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management from the University of Washington. He is also a licensed real estate broker and certified appraiser.

Rose Balogun – Finance Manager

Rose joined Urban Black in 2021 as our Finance Manager. She is responsible for establishing and maintaining our relationship with lenders, bankers, external auditors, attorneys and stakeholders relative to our company and our projects.

Rose has over 18 years of solid experience in finance, accounting, real estate and renewable energy. Her “hands-on” financial leadership has managed and consulted both start-up and established business organizations. She has had the opportunity to work for public, private and not-for-profit organizations.

Additionally, Rose coordinates and manages interim and annual external audits and other engagements. She is also responsible for preparing monthly and quarterly operational and financial reports and prepares and manages our annual budget.

Damon Rudisill – Financing Analyst/Acquisitions/Commercial Sales & Leasing

Damon is a graduate of the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington, where he received a B.A.B.A in both Marketing and Entrepreneurship. He also completed the Foster School’s rigorous sales program, where he obtained a Professional Sales Certificate in June of 2019.

With a deep understanding of advanced business and entrepreneurship practices, Damon is primed with the knowledge to effectively guide and serve retail leasing clients, as they expand their businesses throughout the Greater Seattle area.

His specialties are retail leasing and investment sales. Now, Damon has assumed additional responsibilities including overseeing Urban Black’s project acquisition modeling.

Angela Nedkov - Property Management & Property Sales

Angela Nedkov is the newest property manager to join Urban Black. Much of her 25-year career was not spent in real estate. However, her background in sales, customer service and desire to help those around her were the building blocks in her decision to pursue real estate. The common thread, also, was an ability not only to drive sales but the passion and talent for connecting people. 

Angela is patient, knowledgeable and friendly, even when circumstances aren’t ideal. She epitomizes integrity, energy and hard work by using her experience and foresight to address details before they become an issue. Her strengths lie in treating all clients/customers with exceptional respect and professionalism while proactively addressing their concerns and needs.  

Angela strives to be a beacon of supportive and exceptional resources for any and all of her clients/customers. Personalized guidance, tailored to meet specific stands, is her ultimate passion.
